What happens if you need to make a claim?

If you need to make a claim, we’re here to help. Our claims team is ready to provide guidance and support when it’s needed most. We work closely with repairers and specialists across Australia to help ensure your claim is handled smoothly and fairly.

To lodge a claim, simply complete the online claim form.

If an event occurs that is likely to result in a claim under the policy, the below instructions will help you provide us with everything we need to assess the claim quickly.

First you should:

  • Do what you can to prevent any further loss, damage, cost or liability
  • Notify the police if the event involves theft, attempted theft, malicious damage or impact;
  • Take photos of the damage and retain all damaged parts
  • Call us on 1300 145 240 or email: claims@insurance.cmca.au

You must never without our consent:

  • Admit guilt, fault or liability (except where required by law)
  • Offer or negotiate to pay a claim
  • Authorise or approve any repairs or arrange replacements (other than emergency repairs necessary to minimise or prevent further loss or damage)
  • Dispose of any damaged property

We will also require You to:

  • Provide Us with the proof that We require regarding lost or damaged items
  • Help Us manage the claim, which may include Us inspecting Your Caravan or Motorhome asking You questions, or You providing written statements to Us under oath
  • Keep items that have been damaged and allow Us to inspect them or assess repair costs
  • Allow Us to take possession of damaged property that is the subject of a claim
  • Send Us any communication You receive relating to the claim (including telling Us of pending court proceedings or offers of settlement within 24 hours)
  • Help Us as We work to negotiate, defend or settle any claim made under the Policy and to exercise for Our benefit Your legal right of recovery against any other party;
  • Tell Us about any other insurance that may be relevant to the claim.

What happens next

Our claims team will advise you on how to expedite your claim. We will usually need the following (this may change depending on the incident):

  • Completion of the relevant claim form
  • A quotation to repair the damage, or to replace any goods stolen or uneconomical to repair
  • Photos of any damage or Third Party damage
  • In addition, for theft or malicious damage claims, proof of ownership for the items claimed, plus details of the police event number and report
  • For any claims made against you by other people (legal liability claims) please attach details of all letter of demands received.
  • Please remember that you must never admit guilt, fault or liability.
